We believe the Hilltop and Southside communities are a place where families can grow, connect, and thrive.

Our second community event was held on August 13, 2026 when HEC welcomed families to Arlington Spray Park for an end-of-summer Family Fun Day supported by The Heinz Endowments. The afternoon was filled with food, water play, giveaways, resource information, and warm connections to community supports for families with young children in 15203, 15210, and 15211.

The event brought together 312 participants from 103 families, including 121 children under age 5. As a result of the event, dozens of referrals and community connections have been facilitated through our partner organizations, ensuring that Hilltop families can access the resources, supports, and services that help them thrive.

Our Neighborhoods.

The Hilltop neighborhoods of Allentown, Arlington, Beltzhoover, Bon Air, Carrick, Knoxville, Mt. Oliver, Mt. Washington, South Side Flats and South Side Slopes are communities where every child and family can grow, prosper, and thrive — together.

Our Neighbors.

The Hilltop Empowerment Collective is a community-powered movement invested in the well-being of our neighbors, especially those with young children.

OUR COMMUNITY HELPERS

Behind the Hilltop Empowerment Collective is a network of trusted nonprofit partners who are ready to help.

These organizations work together to support families with services such as early childhood programs, health resources, family support, legal aid, and community connections.
Instead of navigating services alone, families can turn to the Collective and quickly connect with the people who are ready to help them succeed. Our helpers live and work in these neighborhoods—and they care deeply about the families who call the Hilltop and Southside home.
